OVERALL TOUR SUMMARY
We will be organising our 12th tour to watch the Mille Miglia in 2020 with a 7 day and 10 day tour option. Both tours start in Monaco after our 2020 Monaco Historic GP tour or on Lake Como where we arrive late afternoon on the first day of our tour. On the 2nd day we drive from Lake Como to Lake Garda where we are based for 6 nights. The following day is devoted to watching the start of the 2020 Mille Miglia and in the morning we drive to nearby Brescia to watch the Mille Miglia cars assemble. In the afternoon we return to Desenzano which is the first check-point on the 1,000 mile Mille Miglia route so we see all the cars pass through. The following day is devoted to relaxing on Lake Garda with a boat trip to Sirmione the "jewel in the crown" of Lake Garda. The following day we drive to Maranello, home of Ferrari, to visit the Ferrari museum and shops followed by St.Agata where we visit the Lamborghini museum. Late afternoon we drive 10 miles to Modena where we visit the newer Ferrari Museum.In the evening there is an option to watch the Mille Miglia cars arriving at their last overnight check-stop before they arrive back in Brescia the following afternoon. On Saturday we drive back to Brescia to watch the Mille Miglia cars crossing the finishing line. On Sunday the 7th day of the tour we enjoy a tour of Lake Garda before a final dinner at our hotel. On Monday, the 7 day tour participants make their own way home whilst the 10 day tour spend 3 days driving back to Calais with overnight stops on France's Lake Annecy and Beaune.

COSTS: tbc based on 2 people sharing a car and hotel bedroom
The costs, per person, are based on two people per car sharing a hotel bedroom and include the following:
Accommodation in 4 star stylish hotels, ( 9 nights on 10 day tour and 7 nights on 7 day tour )
3 course dinners, ( 7 nights on 9 night tour and 5 nights on 7 night tour )
Comprehensive road books with daily itineraries and detailed route notes
Michelin maps of France and Italy with the daily route highlighted
Services of a Tour Director who accompanies the tour throughout
DFDS return ferry Dover-Calais-Dover with priority boarding and premium lounge access.
NOT INCLUDED ARE THE FOLLOWING:
- Lunches,snacks,coffees etc.
- Drinks with dinner
- Entry to places of interest eg.museums, gardens,villas, etc.
- Lake ferries or autoroute tolls.
- Train or taxi fares to Brescia or train fares to Venice
After this we continue to Brescia, home of the Mille Miglia, where we visit the Mille Miglia museum before arriving in Desenzano del Garda on Lake Garda.This is where our stylish hotel is located overlooking the lake and this will be our base for the next 6 nights.This evening there is a welcome pre- dinner drinks reception on the hotel's terrace overlooking Lake Garda.
On day 3, Wednesday, May 13th, we drive into Bresica to watch the build up to the 2020 Mille Miglia classic rally "re-run" which starts and finishes in Brescia. Late morning we drive to the Mille Miglia museum where the Mille Miglia cars and participants have assembled for lunch.Early afternoon we return to our hotel to watch the Mille Miglia cars arriving in Desenzano at the first checkpoint on their 1,000 mile route from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia.
On day 4, Thursday Thursday, May 14th, we spend the morning relaxing in Desenzano then a ferry crossing to our lunch-stop,Sirmione, often described as the "jewel in Lake Garda's crown. Late afternoon we return to our hotel.
On day 5, Friday Friday, May 15th, there is a choice; either a day trip to Venice on the train or we drive to Maranello, home of Ferrari, to visit the Ferrari museum in Maranello and the Lamborghini museum in Sant Agata Bolognese as well as the newer Ferrari Museum in Modena which opened for the first time in March 2012.
In the evening we drive to Parma to watch the Mille Miglia cars arrive at their overnight stop on their way back to Brescia tomorrow.
On day 6, Saturday, Saturday, May 16th, we visit Brescia where the Mille Miglia cars arrive in the afternoon at the end of their 1,000 mile adventure.
On day 7, Sunday, May 17th we enjoy a leisurely drive around Lake Garda with lunch on the lake.
On day 8, Monday, Monday, May 18th Lake Garda to Lake Como, ( The 7 day tour ends here )
Participants on the 7 day tour say goodbye and make their own way home
Participants on the 10 day tour travel from Lake Garda to Lake Annecy where they stay overnight in a charming hotel overlooking the lake and the following day drive to Beaune. On the final day of the tour we drive from Beaune to Calais to catch an afternoon ferry to Dover.
ITINERARY 10 DAY TOUR TO WATCH THE 2020 MILLE MIGLIA
Day 1 Monday, May 11th Villefranche sur Mer to Lake Como ( ??? miles )
( Participants can join us in Villefranche in the morning or the afternoon on Lake Como )
Our route to Lake Como takes us via Monaco and a mountain pass.

It is then only half an hour to our hotel, for the next 6 nights, in Desenzano on Lake Garda, at the bottom left hand corner of the lake.

Day 5 Wednesday May 15th, Desenzano del Garda to Brescia to see the build up to the 2019 Mille Miglia ( 40 miles return )
Today is the start of the 2019 Mille Miglia so we drive into nearby Brescia. The atmosphere is amazing and we spend the day absorbing the ambiance in this historic city with its rich artistic heritage including Roman temples and triumphalist architecture, (see photos below).
Around mid-day we
Around mid-day we leave Brescia and drive 2 miles to the Mille Miglia museum where the Mille Miglia cars are parked whilst the crews have lunch. Early afternoon we return to our hotel. This afternoon the 2019 Mille Miglia cars come through Desenzano where there is the first checkpoint on the 1,000 mile route so we can watch over 350 Mille Miglia cars drive through the centre of the town from 4.00pm to 7.00pm a sight for sore eyes indeed, (see photos below).

Day 4 Thursday, May 14th A day exploring Sirmione, Lake Garda
We spend a leisurely morning exploring Desenzano then take the pedestrian ferry to Sirmione our lunch stop. Sirmione, a charming and atmospheric ,medieval town on a peninsula at the south of the lake less than 10 miles east from Desenzano is often described as "the jewel in Lake Garda's crown. The town can only be accessed on foot by crossing the moat of a 16th-century castle at the town's entrance. We then return by boat to Desenzano del Garda.

Day 5 Friday, May 15th Today there are two options:
Option A Visit Venice by train
In the morning you can catch the train at approximately 9.00am from Desenzano to Venice where you can spend all day exploring this fascinating, unique city.
In the evening return back to Desenzano and our hotel.
This evening you are free to make your own dinner arrangements.
Option B. Visit the Ferrari museums in Maranello and Modena and the Lamborghini museum in S'ant Agata, (205 miles return).
We take the motorway and drive approximately a hundred miles south east down to Modena and then drive 15 miles south of Modena to Maranello and visit the Ferrari Museum which is just around the corner from the Ferrari factory, (see photos below). We also visit the various Ferrari shops as well as taking a peak over the wall at the Ferrari test track the famous "Pista di Fiorano", ( see photo below right).
There is an option to have lunch in the Cavalino restaurant, a Ferrari themed restaurant just across the road from the Ferrari factory and often frequented by Ferrari managers and directors.
We then drive 15 miles to S'ant Agata where the Lamborghini museum is located next to the factory.
Late afternoon we drive 10 miles to Modena and visit the Ferrari museum devoted to the life of Enzo Ferrari which opened in March 2012, see photos below:
Late afternoon we leave Modena and drive to Parma where we watch the Mille Miglia cars arrive on their last overnight stop before arriving in Brescia tomorrow. We then return back to Desenzano and our hotel.
This evening you are free to make your own dinner arrangements.
Day 8 Saturday May 18th Desenzano to Brescia to watch the Mille Miglia cars return ( 40 miles )
After a leisurely breakfast at our hotel we drive to Brescia to watch the Mille Miglia cars returning after their 1,000 mile trip
Dinner tonight is in Desenzano in a restaurant around the harbour
Day 9 Sunday May 19th A tour of Lake Garda ( 85 miles )
We drive around Lake Garda in a clockwise direction enjoying dramatic scenery further north ending in impressive rocky cliffs, sometimes swathed in pines which hug the shoreline of the northern tip. Our morning coffee stop is at Gardone Riviera just north of Salo where we visit the fascinating Il Vittoriale villa and beautiful botanical gardens. Our lunch stop is a little further up the lake. Our afternoon route then takes us clockwise up the western shore of Lake Garda to Limone Sul Garda before arriving at Riva del Garda at the top of the lake and Lake Garda's most famous holiday resort. In the afternoon we drive down the east shoreline of Lake Garda to our coffee stop Malcesine which, after Sirmione, is arguably the prettiest village on the lake. After this we continue back around the lake to the southern shore returning to Desenzano for our last dinner at the hotel.
Day 10 Monday May 20th Desenzano del Garda to Talloires, Lake Annecy
The 6 day tour ends today and participants make their own way home, Other participants drive west on the motorway to Lake Annecy where our hotel is a converted abbey in Talloires arguably the prettiest village on the lake
Day 11 Tuesday May 21st, Talloires to Beaune ( 200 miles including 80 miles on motorways )
We take a scenic mountain route north west to our lunch stop one of France's most beautiful villages. After lunch we continue to Beaune where we visit a fascinating chateau museum hosting an eclectic collection of Abarth sportscars, classic motorcycles, model airplanes, vintage fire engines and in the grounds of the chateau real air planes !
Our hotel tonight is on the outskirts of Beaune.
Day 12 Wednesday May 22nd Beaune to Calais, then DFDS ferry from Calais to Dover ( 320 miles including 290 miles on motorways )
We take the motorway to Calais where we catch the afternoon ferry to Dover
