However, due to the uncertainty of predicting future conversion rates of sterling to euros we reserve the right to charge a premium based upon prevailing conversion rates at the time of receipt of your fees
10 DAY TOUR the cost, per person, is based on two people, per car, sharing a hotel bedroom and ferry cabin and include the following:
- Accommodation in 4 or 5 star stylish hotels ( 8 nights )
- 3-course dinners, ( 11 nights )
- breakfast daily in hotels
- Rally plate
- Comprehensive road book with daily itineraries and detailed route instructions
- Michelin map with the route highlighted
- Services of a Tour Director throughout the tour
- Overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St. Malo with a Club class cabin (We offer a cost reduction to participants who prefer to make their own ferry arrangements).
- Return overnight ferry from Santander to Portsmouth with a Club class cabin (We offer a cost reduction to participants who prefer to make their own ferry arrangements).
NOT INCLUDED ARE THE FOLLOWING :
- Lunches, snacks, coffees, etc.
- Drinks with dinner
- Entry to places of interest eg. chateaux, museums, gardens, villas, etc.
- Autoroute tolls
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
A 10 days/10 nights tour down France's Atlantic Coast starting with an overnight ferry crossing to St. Malo and finishing in Santander, northern Spain where we catch the overnight ferry back to Portsmouth.
The tour has been designed to be relaxed with 8 nights in 4 hotels, which means that we are spending two nights in each of the four hotels so that you can explore the local areas.
Our first hotel, for two nights, is in Pornichet next to La Baule which is regarded as one of the finest bays on the Atlantic Coast. The following day we explore the coast with an optional boat trip in the Golfe du Morbihan. On our 4th day we then drive south along the Atlantic coast to La Rochelle then cross the bridge to the Ile de Re, an island now joined to the mainland by a toll bridge. Here we stay 2 nights in the chic resort of St. Martin de Re with its charming harbour area.
Our next hotel stop is Arcachon Bay, just south of Bordeaux, where we spend another two nights in the stylish town of Arcachon on a bay.
We then continue south along the Atlantic coast via Biarritz to St. Jean de Luz, another stylish resort, where we spend our final two nights.
We then drive over the border into Spain to Santander where we catch the afternoon overnight ferry from Santander to Portsmouth.
Day 1 Monday, June 26th
Overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St. Malo
Our overnight ferry leaves Portsmouth at 20.15
Once onboard and checked in to your cabin, meet up with fellow tour participants in the a la carte restaurant for dinner.
Day 2 Tuesday, June 27th
St. Malo to Pornichet ( 135 miles)
The ferry arrives in St.Malo at 8.15 and we assemble at the quayside and then drive south to the charming Dinan Port, our breakfast stop.
We then continue south to Loheac where we visit the Manoir de Automobile, a classic car museum.
Lunch is in the nearby village
After lunch, we continue southwest to Rochfort-en-Terre, one of France's most beautiful villages, our afternoon coffee stop.
After coffee, we continue south down to La Baule one of France's finest bays
We then arrive in Pornichet where our chateau hotel for the next two nights is located on the coast.
Dinner tonight is in the hotel's restaurant.
Day 3 Wednesday, June 28th
Pornichet, local excursion, ( 80 miles )
Today, we explore the coastline and drive to Vannes at the top of the Gulf of Morbihan. After coffee, there is an option to take a boat trip in the Gulf.
We then return to our hotel in Pornichet.
Day 4 Thursday, June 29th
Pornichet to Saint Martin de Re, (Ile de Re )( 140 miles)
Our route takes us south across the Loire estuary via St. Nazaire to the Isle de Noirmoutier, our morning coffee stop.
We continue south parallel to the coastline to La Rochelle, our lunch stop.
After lunch, we cross the toll bridge onto the Ile de Re.
Our hotel for the next two nights is located in St. Martin de Re on the north of the island.
Dinner, tonight, is in a local restaurant on the harbour.
Day 5 Friday, June 30th
Ile de Re, local excursion, ( 40 miles )
Today we relax around the beautiful St. Martin or, for those more adventurous, you can explore the island by car.
Ars-en-Re is one of France's most beautiful villages a few miles from St Martin
Day 6 Saturday, July 1st
Ile de Re to Arcachon ( 175 miles)
We leave the Ile de Re and return to the mainland and head south via Rochfort and Saintes to Arcachon, just south of Bordeaux
Here our hotel for the next two nights is located
Day 7 Sunday, July 2nd A day relaxing around Arcachon Bay ( 50 miles )
Today we stay local and explore the local coastline
In the afternoon we visit Lapin, a quaint Fisherman's village, where almost all the houses are made out of wood.
Dinner tonight is in our hotel
Day 8 Monday, June 3rd Arcachon to St. Jean de Luz ( 110 miles)
We leave Arcachon and return to the motorway and head south to St. Jean de Luz, just south of Biarritz.
Our hotel, for the next two nights, is perched on a hilltop overlooking the Atlantic.
Day 9 Tuesday, July 4th
St-Jean de Luz, local excursion, ( 50 miles )
Today, you can relax around the hotel and explore the pretty town
Day 10 Wednesday, July 5th
St. Jean de Luz to Santander, ( 125 miles)
We leave St. Jean de Luz, join the motorway and drive across the border into Spain and on to Santander
Here we catch the 14.00 overnight ferry to Portsmouth which arrives Thursday at 20.00
Day 11 Thursday, July 6th
The Santander ferry arrives in Portsmouth at 20.00
