2024 BRITTANY SPRING TOUR

A 10-day clock-wise tour of Brittany starting in St.Malo and finishing in Le Havre On this tour, we stay in 4 different hotels, all of which are members of the luxury "Relais et Chateaux" hotel group, and in each hotel, we stay for 2 nights making the tour quite relaxed.

COSTS

COST PER PERSON £3,250  (BASED ON 2 PEOPLE IN A CAR SHARING A HOTEL ROOM AND CABINS ON  FERRIES )

The costs are based on £1 sterling =1.15 euros and we reserve the right to charge a surcharge based upon the conversion rates at the time of receiving your fees

 

The costs, per person, include the following

  • Accommodation in stylish hotels ( 8 nights )
  • Breakfast daily
  • 3-course dinners, ( 8 nights )
  • Comprehensive road book with daily itineraries and detailed route notes
  • Michelin regional map of Brittany with the route highlighted.
  • Services of a Tour Director throughout the tour
  • Outward overnight ferry from Portsmouth-St. Malo with club class cabin, ( upgrade to Commodore cabin at an extra cost of  approximately £70 subject to availability )
  • Return overnight  ferry from Le Havre to Portsmouth

NOT INCLUDED ARE THE FOLLOWING :

    • Lunches, snacks, coffees etc.
    • Drinks with dinner including bottled water and coffee
    • Entry to places of interest eg. museums, gardens, chateaux, etc.
    • Autoroute tolls
    • Ferries in Brittany to islands

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

A 10-day tour of Brittany starting with an overnight ferry crossing to St. Malo from Portsmouth.

We then drive south to our 5* chateau hotel east of  Vannes in Southern Brittany where we stay for two nights.

The next day we drive to Port Navallo at the south of the Golfe de Morbihan then   Vannes where there is an option to take a leisurely boat ride around the Golfe du Morbihan before returning to our hotel in Missillac.

The next day we leave Missilac and drive west to Carnac then onto the Presqu'ile Quiberon peninsula before arriving at St. Cado a pretty port. Our hotel for the next two nights is another member of the Relais et Chateaux group,in Kervignac.

The next day we drive to nearby  Lorient where we visit the Eric Tarbarly Sailing Museum and Submarine Museum. We then explore Pont Aven, famous for the artists that it attracted in the 19th century. Our afternoon coffee stop is Concarneau on the coast. We then return to our hotel in Kervignac.
The next day we drive west to the Audierne peninsula where we have lunch in Audierne before driving around the coast to Locoran, one of France's most beautiful villages.

Our hotel for the next 2 nights is a  hotel overlooking a magnificent bay. near Plonevez-Porzay.The next day we explore the region to the north before returning to our hotel. On our 8th day, we drive northwest via Huelgoat, to Morlaix, near Rocscoff our lunch stop. We then take the scenic coastal road via Plougasnou to Locquirec, where our hotel for the next two nights is located overlooking the sea.

On our 9th day, we explore the pretty coastal region to the west of Locquirwc with lunch in Ploumanac'h and afternoon coffee in Perros Guirec.

On our 10th day, our final day, we drive via St. Malo to Le Havre to catch the overnight ferry back to Portsmouth.

Day 1 Monday  8th April

Portsmouth-St. Malo overnight ferry   ( 20.15 ferry arrives 8.15 am Tuesday )

Day 2  Tuesday 9th April

 St. Malo to Missillac ( 126 miles )

The overnight ferry from Portsmouth arrives in St Malo at 8.15 am.

After re-assembling we drive south to Dinan Port our morning coffee stop.

We then continue to Loheac, our lunch stop, where we visit the classic car museum

We then continue to our afternoon coffee stop, Rochefort en Terre, one of France's most beautiful villages.

We then drive south-east to Missillac where our 5* chateau hotel for the next 2 nights is located.

 

Day 3 Wednesday 10th April

Exploring the Golfe du Morbihan, ( 100 miles )

After a leisurely breakfast, we drive 40  miles west to Port Navalo, our morning coffee stop, at the bottom of the Morbihan Gulf. This small port is also a holiday resort.

We then drive up the east shore of the Gulf to Vannes, our lunch stop

Here there is an option to take a boat ride around the scenic Gulf of Morbihan with all its islands.

In the afternoon we return to our hotel in Missillac.

Day 4 Thursday  11th April

 Missillac to Kervignac ( 106 miles )

We say farewell to Domaine de la Bretesche and drive around Vannes to our morning coffee stop, La Trinite Sur Mer.

After coffee, we visit the famous pre-historic standing stones in Carnac

 

We then drive onto the Presqu'il Quiberon peninsula where our lunch stop is Quiberon.

We then return to the mainland and drive north-west to St. Cado, our afternoon coffee stop, where visit the scenic island linked by a pedestrian causeway.

 

We then continue to Kervignac where our chateau hotel for the next two nights is located just east of Lorient

Day 5 Friday  12th April

Kervignac, local excursion, to La Base, Pont Aven and  Concarneau  ( 93  miles ) 

In the morning we drive to Lorient where our morning coffee stop is the Eric Tarbarly Sailing Museum and adjacent submarine museum.

 

We then continue to  Pont Aven, our lunch stop.

We then drive west to nearby Concarneau our afternoon coffee stop where we visit the old walled town on the harbour

After lunch, we return to our hotel in Kervignac.

 

Day 6 Saturday  13th April

Kervignac to Ste. Anne La Palud, Plonevez Porzay  ( 122 miles ) 

We leave Kervignac and drive west via Quimper to the Audierne peninsula.

Our morning coffee stop is Ponr Croix

Our lunch stop  is Audierne.

 

 

We then drive around the Audierne peninsula stopping to admire the views at both Pointe du Raz and Pointe du Van.

 

 

In the afternoon, we visit Locronan our afternoon coffee stop and one of France's most beautiful villages.

 

 

We then drive  to our hotel for the next two nights, overlooking a bay

 

Day 7 Sunday  14th April

Ste. Anne la Palud, local excursion. ( 76 miles )

Today we explore the region to the north and west of our hotel.

Our morning coffee stop is Morgot.

Our lunch stop is Camaret sur Mer

We then return via the Point Penhir and Point des Espagnols, to our hotel

 

Day 8 Monday  15th April

Ste. Anne La Palud to Locquirec ( 90 miles )

We bid farewell to West Brittany and drive north-west over the Terenez bridge

 

Our morning coffee stop is Huelgoat,

From Huelgoat we take a scenic route north to Morlaix, near Roscoff, our lunch stop.

We then take the coastal road to Le Dibden, our afternoon coffee stop.

We then drive via Plougasnou, to Locquirec, where our hotel for the next two nights is located. overlooking the sea

 

 

 

Day 9 Tuesday 16th April

Locquirec, local excursion  ( 70 miles)

Today we explore the coastal region to the east with a visit to the beautiful bay in Ploumanac'h, one of Brittany's greatest tourist attractions and our lunch stop.

Our afternoon coffee stop is Perros Guirec

which  with a dozen beaches  attracts large numbers of visitors

 

 

We then return to our hotel in Locquirec

 

Day 10 Wednesday  17th April 

Locquirec to Le Havre Ferry  ( 240 miles )

After breakfast, we drive east to the Pointe de L'Arcouest our morning coffee stop. We then continue east via St. Malo then on to Le Havre where we catch the overnight ferry to Portsmouth.

 

Day 11 Thursday 18th April 

The overnight ferry from Le Havre arrives in Portsmouth at 7.00am
